Hello, we are currently considering which option is better. Some construction companies advise against the insulated blocks due to concerns about mold growth ??? We would only not be able to achieve a KfW 40+ house because of the bricks. Could you share your experiences with us? Thank you

A woodworm would have to be a crossbreed with a stone louse parent to bore through bricks just because of the tasty wood fibers. I also don’t seriously expect a smoldering fire of the wood fibers in sun-heated walls. The masons should always cover their work at the end of the day.

What happens if these bricks absorb moisture and the wood fibers get damp?

If they are not installed exposed to heavy rain or left uncovered, that can happen. Just like with other types of bricks. Otherwise: no cause for concern.

Is there a risk that the wood fibers attract pests?

Just like your wooden furniture attracts pests, or the wood trim elements in your car...

Supposedly, bricks filled with wood fibers also help with heat protection in summer. But I don’t know if that’s true.

Wood fibers have a relatively high bulk density. It might be true. But I wouldn’t expect or hope for too much.

I’m somewhat worried about fire safety. Is it guaranteed, or should I be concerned?

If the wood inside the bricks starts burning, then you and your house along with your furniture are already reduced to ashes. How do you handle fire safety with your parquet flooring, laminate, curtains, sofa, wooden furniture, and so on? They aren’t even enclosed in bricks. 😉
