TassimatHello everyone,
During my renovation, I unfortunately postponed the topic of mechanical ventilation for a long time, and now I’m unsure whether and how I should install one. I am aware of all the pros and cons, for example from this thread.
My biggest concern is that the fans might be too noisy. Also, there is currently no budget allocated for this.
If I had to prioritize my requirements, I would say:
1. as quiet as possible
2. flexible control
The airflow volume is less important to me, since even an undersized system significantly improves the indoor climate as long as regular ventilation takes place.
At the moment, I am leaning towards the Lunos e² or e²neo for the bedrooms and living areas, controlled via KNX. Even though I originally did not want KNX. Are there any flexible alternatives?
Does it make sense to prepare now by, for example, making 160mm (6 inch) core drill holes, laying cables, and installing the ventilation system later?
Best regards,
Tassimat

How many rooms are we talking about? If it’s more than two and the renovation is not yet very advanced, I would reconsider installing a central mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery.
The units you selected, plus core drilling, power supply and control, covers, wiring, etc., will probably cost around 1000€ (approximately 1100 USD) each.
You never wanted KNX before? So currently you don’t have KNX installed and now you want to install KNX just for a few fans?
That doesn’t initially seem very practical.

I understand it will be audible, but there are supposed to be differences between the various systems.
I know you will all recommend a central system, but that would require installing quite a few more pipes, for which I don’t have space. If I had to box in or lower ceiling sections, I would rather do without ventilation altogether.
