we are now in the final phase of planning, and the remaining issue is the position of the house. Since the driveway’s width and location are fixed, and the floor plan should remain as is, I thought there really wasn’t any alternative arrangement, right?

As BeHaElja pointed out, it is basically 2 full stories, with the extension providing the additional square meters for the 2/3 rule. We had rarely seen this done this way before; of all the compromises to have straight walls, this was our favorite. The extension also includes a roof terrace that can be accessed from the dining area.
