Hello everyone,
we are currently facing an issue with the placement of the meter cabinet. During the planning phase, it was assigned a position (wall) in the utility room. The main service panel is already installed on this wall and was mounted there by the installation company without any notice. Now, our electrician says this location is not suitable for installing a meter or distribution cabinet and that it would violate regulations. According to him, these cabinets are not allowed to be mounted on walls that serve as exterior walls of the building. Only interior walls may be used for their placement. If that is true, we have a significant problem. The planned location is simply perfect for this purpose. We have reviewed all relevant DIN and VDE standards and could not find this requirement anywhere. We also checked the utility company's guidelines and found no mention of which wall the installation must be on. There are some criteria described, but nothing about the specific wall for mounting.
For your information: The utility room is located in the basement.
Does anyone know about this regulation? Does it even exist?

That’s how I handle it when someone tries to tell me this or that isn’t allowed. Just bluntly ask, "Oh, where does it say that?"
PS:
He might be referring to an old regulation that was withdrawn because there is an updated version. That happens quite often.
