Hello,
we are in the final stages of planning our house and floor layout, but the topic of the fireplace and chimney is really giving us trouble. Our preferred chimney location was not approved due to the roof slopes, so we have to reconsider.
We are now considering a panoramic fireplace, which would also function as a kind of room divider. We like, for example, this one:
What I am wondering now is—where does the chimney go in this case? Does it have to be directly behind the fireplace, that is, between the wall and the fireplace? Or can it also be located above the fireplace? Surely it is arranged like this in the fireplace shown in the picture (or the chimney is behind/inside the wall)? I am not exactly sure how this works, since the chimney is built during the shell construction of the house and the lower part of the chimney would later have to be removed again to install the fireplace there?
Maybe someone can clarify this for me.
Thank you very much
Sebastian
