What is the most important fundamental question about the floor plan summarized in 130 characters?
The floor plan is basically fixed, but for noise (street) and privacy reasons, we want to mirror the whole house so the garage, front door, bay window, house, and terrace are positioned from west to east.

Unfortunately, this has sparked many discussions because the plot was gifted to us by family whose house behind is slightly elevated (about 3m (10 ft), on the north side). They fear their house will no longer be visible from the south if we move the garage to within 2–3m (6.5–10 ft) of the western boundary. However, if we move it back 6–7m (20–23 ft) to where the current house corner is, there is about 80m² (860 sq ft) of "wasted space" between the boundary, street, driveway, and garage. Do you have any ideas on how to make use of this space or avoid it altogether without compromising the rest of the design?

The images still show the old version, as we will only redesign once we find a solution...

Thank you very much!

What do you mean by that?

Well, the floor plan has been discussed in detail step by step since the very beginning of the thread "Very first draft of a ground floor" (or whatever it was called). The quality of the outcome from this discussion cannot be fully preserved when mirroring the plan, because the two aspects—"how the rooms are best arranged relative to each other" and "where they are best oriented according to the cardinal directions"—are intertwined. Much of what was said no longer applies after mirroring.

From my point of view, a significant part of the design refinement is lost when the plan is mirrored. Viewing the garage as a separate unit to be planned independently could solve this—possibly by the trick of converting the double garage, for example, into a single garage on one side and a carport on the other. In any case, I would rather sacrifice an outbuilding as a bargaining chip than flip a well-discussed main building upside down.

By the way, just a few weeks ago I was still firmly hoping that your next update would be photos of the foundation slab (soon to be expected) :-(

Please mirror your plans on the plot and also mirror the upper floor... I can't see everything clearly on my phone.

I don’t have the original plans yet since the architect was on vacation until yesterday. I’ll make a sketch tomorrow.

How would it look if you mirror the house diagonally or rotate it around the center point so that the garage is positioned as a boundary building on the north side and the driveway is from the west?
I would simply try all 4 or 8 possible configurations.
