My parents are currently considering installing a photovoltaic system on the roof of their terraced house. Additionally, they are thinking about also installing a photovoltaic system on the carport.
The problem is that the path to the carport crosses several private properties before reaching the house. Therefore, connecting the photovoltaic system on the carport to the house is not an option.
Is there a solution to install a photovoltaic system on a carport without having to connect it to the house?
Thank you!

Save your money, have an electrical connection installed and buy power for charging. It's cheaper in terms of capacity, and as a bonus, the garage door will work even without sun 😉I actually liked the first part, but then if you recommend having an electrical connection installed, well, you might as well go for photovoltaic after all..The goal was to charge the electric car, so you need power from somewhere. The connection might cost around 2,000 euros (about 2,000 USD), depending on the circumstances, and will provide electricity (for a fee) without limits. The small photovoltaic system will cost several times more, only works occasionally, and probably won’t provide enough power for the car.

If the garage has no electrical connection, then you could
a) only charge the car with the amount of electricity generated by the garage roof,
b) only charge while the sun is shining, since otherwise no electricity is available.
From a cost perspective, this is nonsense. You buy the photovoltaic system, you buy the wallbox, and you get a few kWh charged on weekends (in the summer half of the year, maybe also in the evenings). A garage roof isn’t very big, so hardly any usable power is generated.

It's much cheaper in scale, and as a bonus, the garage door also opens without sun 😉He will need the electrical connection and the wallbox anyway if an electric car is to be charged there. The photovoltaic system is an add-on on top of that, especially since anyone can install panels on a flat garage roof.
