Good morning,

Yesterday, we received a quote for a photovoltaic system. Our construction of the single-family house will start in October 2023 and is expected to be ready for occupancy in September 2024.

We have an annual electricity consumption of about 3000 kWh for our household, plus an unknown amount for the air-to-water heat pump (Weishaupt Biblock).

Our roof is oriented exactly south with a 25° pitch (gable roof). According to the calculation in the quote, the entire south roof is fully covered with modules (20 units), and the north roof is also equipped with 5 modules.

Attached you will find the details of the quote. The price is €20,900 net with battery storage and €15,900 net without storage.

What do you think of the offer? From what I understand in the discussions here on the forum, it is advisable to skip the battery storage. That would bring the cost to just under €16,000, which is a bit over €1,600 per kWp. That seems relatively expensive, doesn’t it?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Elias

The roof won’t be in place for another two years, so in my opinion, you are starting way too early. Maybe the market will stabilize again by then.

Our most affordable offer is 1850€/kWp, so I find your offer reasonable. However, our system is smaller, and scaffolding must be provided separately.

You can keep the offer for your information. Since no one can say what will happen next week, a 2.5-year period is quite a long time in advance.

Thank you all. And first of all, sorry, I really made a silly typo, and actually twice 😀 The house construction starts at the end of 2022 (not 2023) and will be ready to move in by the end of 2023 (not 2024).

That means the roof should be finished by the end of this year, and then (if the scaffolding is still up) the solar installer can go on it, right? At least, that’s what I think our general contractor planned.

I will ask him about the price guarantee for the system—whether there is one at all if I confirm today.

Oh, and then there’s the question: storage yes or no? I’m leaning towards no, based on what I’ve read in other forum posts?

I don’t understand the 5 modules on the north side. It can be debated whether north-facing is practical, but due to the orientation, it needs its own separate string. However, 5 modules are too few for a separate string. And if north-facing is indeed practical, then the entire roof area there should be used... As it is, it’s neither one nor the other.
