Hello,

I would like to know your opinions on the topic of photovoltaic systems.
The plan is for a house with 140 sqm (1507 sq ft) with a south-facing roof.
Is financing such a system worthwhile?
What are your personal experiences in this area?
Do you have to feed the electricity into the grid, or is it allowed/possible to use it yourself?
Are there any special incentives or subsidies available?

What disadvantages does installing such a system have (please don’t mention “appearance”)?

Yes, here. Unless you are related to a branch manager of a bank, no one will approve a KFW270 loan under 50,000€ (approximately 54,000 USD). I arranged mine through a private photovoltaic loan, as there are various offers with acceptable interest rates and terms.

However, before you focus too much on the smallest decimal places in the interest rate, it is essential to get multiple quotes from solar installers, since the price differences can sometimes be significant.

Exactly, interest rates around 2.x% over 10 years are quite realistic and won't dramatically extend the payback period.
More important is whether you have the system installed for €1700 or €1200 per kWp (kilowatt peak).
