Hello,

I would like to know your opinions on the topic of photovoltaic systems.
The plan is for a house with 140 sqm (1507 sq ft) with a south-facing roof.
Is financing such a system worthwhile?
What are your personal experiences in this area?
Do you have to feed the electricity into the grid, or is it allowed/possible to use it yourself?
Are there any special incentives or subsidies available?

What disadvantages does installing such a system have (please don’t mention “appearance”)?

I have not yet heard of any realistic calculation with a payback period of less than 10 years.

Could someone please show the calculation?!

Regardless, this is the only part of the house that actually pays for itself. Therefore, the duration is basically irrelevant. It shouldn’t really be seen as an investment anyway, unless you own large-scale installations.

In 2018, I received nearly €1,000 from selling and "saving" the electricity I consumed myself. The system cost me €5,999 net, with a capacity of 6.24 kWp. My dad is an electrician, and we installed it ourselves.

Come on, you should mention things like that. Photovoltaics in Germany is a completely different calculation compared to elsewhere.

And you've now taken the sunshine hours from 2018 as an average for the coming years? That’s good news not just for your wallet.

You have to say, the hotter it gets, the less efficient the system becomes. I’ve read from many that the best month in 2018 was May. All the other months, especially the weeks with 30°C (86°F), were worse on average.

Yes, this is just the basis of my assumption for now...whether the next few years will be as good remains to be seen.
Even if they are a bit worse, I estimate that I will comfortably stay under 10 years...but it might also get better, who knows...
My detailed "records" have only started since 2017...
