Hello,

a façade installer applied EPS insulation boards (Rygol perimeter and plinth insulation boards 035, 3m with 10cm (4 inches) thickness) to insulate our house plinth (which is already 60 years old) and the area below it. These were reinforced (with reinforcement mesh and Knauf SM 300) and now he wants to apply a waterproofing layer of weber.tec Superflex D 24 on top of the insulation boards. He told us that this method works. I have my doubts because the manufacturer states that Superflex D 24 should be applied directly onto the masonry.

Does anyone have experience with this? In my opinion, the insulation boards should first be removed, then the waterproofing applied to the masonry, and then the insulation boards reinstalled.

This is how a professional would do it. Correct.

Thank you for the quick response. We have an energy consultant who will inspect the work as part of the energy-efficient renovation measures. Would it be advisable to also involve a building surveyor?

Thank you in advance for your reply.
