Hello
Is a building permit / planning permission required to install a pellet heating system?
Our neighbor would like us to provide a consent statement.
I am wondering what this means for us?
Thank you for your answers

You do not need a building permit / planning permission for any type of heating system. Why does the neighbor want the consent declaration, just asking?

Hello Frutig,

No building permit is required for heating systems; however, an application is necessary if you want to apply for a subsidy. Wood-burning systems with central heating function are supported by various local authorities, and there are application forms for this, which are unrelated to a building permit.
Since local authorities have the final say in construction matters, it is advisable to simply call your local authority and ask if you are unsure.

Hello,
That was exactly the case for us as well. Our heating system was also converted to pellets, and I did not need a building permit / planning permission. However, there was funding available from the local authority, and I applied for it. Everything went smoothly.

It seems strange to me why the neighbor wants to see a permit. Wood heating systems are quite popular now, and I am planning to have my heating system converted as well. I have checked, and I don’t need a building permit / planning permission either.

That would also be new to me. The neighbor is probably curious and doesn’t know how to apply for the subsidy. Municipalities provide application forms, which must be completed in full. These are also submitted there.
