Hello, I urgently need expert advice.

We have a prefabricated house from Schwabenhaus.
For the terrace directly next to the house, we want to pave at the same level as the edge of the base/wall.

However, the manufacturer recommends a 15cm (6 inches) lower layer of decorative gravel or similar around the house to prevent water from splashing onto the facade.

Are there any guidelines, options, or recommendations for this?
At the patio door, I think it might not be a problem, but next to it, it could be. Could terrace grates be used to maintain the same height? Has anyone had experience with this?

Thank you very much in advance.

You mean like in the picture?

Newly laid gray patio slabs at the house, construction tools and construction area in the background.

There are different options, ranging from special treatment of the foundation against rising damp (about 300 EUR per linear meter) to the use of grids. If you want to fill up to the wall level, for example, to create a level exit from the house to the terrace, it looks better visually without grids. However, this is quite expensive. Do you have a building expert who can advise you? I could at least send you the structure of the waterproofing by private message, but it should be done by a professional company.

Yes, exactly like in the picture.

Yes, I also considered the steel grates. But I can’t really find anything suitable. I reviewed the foundation guidelines again. €300 per linear meter is quite expensive.
I would prefer grates on the terrace (4 or 4.5m (13 or 15 feet)) instead, especially since the terrace door has a step. (Similar to front doors, where more sealing is done; moisture can evaporate to the left and right underneath the step.)

There is a walkway behind the house, and I’m looking for a solution for that as well.
A cheap option behind the house would be the 30/15 solution. That means 15cm (6 inches) of gravel at 30cm (12 inches) width from the base of the wall.
I’m just not sure if it would look odd if the paving then lies 15cm (6 inches) higher than the gravel layer.

Our base (plinth) is only about 30cm (12 inches) high in total. We installed drainage as a precaution, but not much water reaches that area.

I can provide pictures this afternoon.

Addendum: We do not have a building surveyor.

I would like to join in and request the waterproofing details. Thanks in advance.
