ᐅ Passive house, combined heating system with solar thermal, energy recovery, photovoltaic panels?

So, I plan to have a house built for my family in the near future.
I have decided on a passive house because I want to minimize environmental impact and keep running costs low.
Now I am wondering which heating combinations I should use.
A ventilation system with heat recovery is a must...
Solar energy will be used for domestic hot water in combination with a large buffer tank.
I thought that heat recovery alone might not be enough to maintain the indoor temperature as I want it...
What additional heating options would you recommend?
Geothermal energy? Using solar also for heating? What are the possibilities?
Or is the ventilation with heat recovery sufficient?
I’ve heard that passive houses don’t need extra heating because heat recovery should be enough – is that true?
I’m also thinking about installing some photovoltaic panels on the roof to save even more energy for electrical appliances and the ventilation system’s motors, etc.
What do the experts suggest as a good combination that won’t cause problems, e.g., not keeping the house warm enough?
Many thanks for your help.
PS: Hello to everyone, I’m new here 😀

You can use underfloor or wall heating. The building component activation is important here, as well as the overall geometry of the building.
The collector area for domestic ventilation (DV) should be at most 1:1, so 160 sqm (1722 sq ft) for a passive house.
However, this would already be a fully functional heating system that you don’t actually need.
Imagine your refrigerator, but reversed—the back side is the heater, heat is being drawn away.

A wall heating system seems more advisable since, with underfloor heating, although the floor is warm, it tends to spread dust significantly, while this might not be as much of a problem with a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery.

What type of solar system are you referring to, photovoltaic or thermal?
Regarding the thermal system, I already mentioned that you would save only about €100 to €200 per year. So, there is almost no return on investment. It is like with ventilation systems—just an added comfort, and you are doing something positive for the environment.
How many people are there in your household?
I consider the issue with dust to be a myth; I have 350 m² (3,767 sq ft) of white marble flooring and only underfloor heating.

However, if I have a ventilation system with heat recovery, I don’t need such a large area of ground collectors.
I’m not sure how the costs balance out, but you also have to consider that with a ventilation system the air quality is significantly better without constant manual airing.
In a passive house without ventilation, how does that work? Do I have to ventilate every two hours, or how is air exchange supposed to happen there?
Or did you mean that it’s similar with ventilation systems?
They are necessary for ventilation in passive houses after all.
At the moment, there are three of us: 2 adults and 1 child, but another child is planned, possibly even two.

Bunnyguard29 Oct 2009 19:10How about the heating coil in the ventilation system? Is it standard or optional as well?
If the ground collectors are properly sized, the heating coil is not necessary, right?
