Hello everyone!

I would like to know if hardwood flooring in the kitchen is a good or bad idea. What are your experiences? I am planning to make some changes to my kitchen.

Wishing you all a great day!

Parquet flooring in the kitchen is not a good idea.
I have tiles at home and am grateful for that because the floor is easy to clean and dirt doesn’t get spread throughout the entire house.

I’m not aware that dirt is spread more by cleaning on parquet flooring than on tiles [emoji4][emoji6]

We have bamboo parquet flooring and are happy with it. You just need to be careful when there is a lot of water on the floor.

Bamboo parquet flooring. That sounds interesting, but bamboo can absorb up to 80 liters (21 gallons) of water per hour! Where can I get it cheaply?

I have mixed feelings about tiles; they serve their purpose well in the garage and basement. In living areas, the floor often feels cold since in my home shoes are generally taken off at the door — unless you live in the South or in Latin America. However, with smooth stone floors, it’s easier to clean off insects and dirt brought in from outside compared to wood or carpet floors.

Parquet made from moonwood is just as durable as tile flooring, and if something hard falls on it, it doesn’t crack immediately... plus, it’s easier to repair than tiles.

I know someone who — brace yourselves well — has installed checker plate metal sheets as kitchen flooring in their house.

But as the inventor of sectional doors, I guess that’s allowed.
