A friendly "Moin" to everyone in the forum.

As a new member, I have a question right away! We bought a house, and the parquet flooring in the living room has scratches and other damage. If they aren’t too deep, it’s manageable, but these, caused by the previous owner (see photos), are quite unsightly. I’m not sure if sanding the parquet will be enough. The thickness of the wood might not be sufficient.

Are there other ways to make these damages "invisible"?

Thank you for your effort, and I wish everyone a pleasant Sunday from Bad Oldesloe.

Klaus

Sanding and either oiling or sealing, depending on your preference. It’s best to hire someone experienced who can do it professionally, so it will look like new again.

Thanks, Mycraft, for the quick reply. I have read that the thickness of plywood surfaces varies from eight to ten millimeters (up to 22 mm (0.87 inches)). I will ask a specialist company for a cost estimate.

Of course, there are numerous layer thicknesses. You won’t get far without a professional.

Well, if it’s not solid wood, the veneer layer thickness is probably around 4 mm (about 0.16 inches)!

Still, sanding should normally be enough to fix that.
