Hello readers, I am new here and have two questions about installing parquet flooring. I have Styrian cherry wood parquet and will be installing it floating throughout the entire floor on underfloor heating. Between the parquet and the subfloor, there will be an ewifoam Polyprotect+ foil. The discussion about floating installation on underfloor heating has been covered extensively, but I still won’t be gluing it.

My first question concerns the function of transition profiles over expansion joints. The profiles I have looked at consist of two parts and are screwed together. I have several rooms where a door and a floor-to-ceiling window face each other. If I screw a finishing profile at the window and a transition profile at the door, then the parquet will be clamped on both ends and won’t be able to expand, right? Am I misunderstanding something?

The insulation and vapor barrier foil should extend up the wall to protect the wood from moisture coming from the screed. How is the foil finished at the transition profiles? Is the foil cut off in front of the profile (and possibly glued to the floor?), or is it placed inside the profile?

Thanks for your feedback. Best regards, Florian
