Cribandchill25 Aug 2022 14:45Hello everyone,
A year ago, we had oak parquet flooring installed in our apartment. It was oiled with Woca, and since then we have not had any issues with the floor—except for one area that visually stands out from the rest of the floor when viewed against the light. I once tried to re-oil that spot with a cloth, which probably caused the difference. What can I use to even out the floor in that spot to match the rest? From above or from other angles, it is not visible—only when looking against the light.
Thank you very much! 🙂

Cribandchill26 Aug 2022 09:31Hello Tolentino, it was the same oil from the same container.
And yes, the cloth was a scrubbing rag... The spot also feels like the rest of the floor, and as you can see in the first picture, it looks the same from above.
Thank you!

Well, I’m just a layperson too, but maybe the abrasive pad was too coarse and roughened the surface at the micrometer level. Just enough so that it becomes noticeable under certain lighting conditions. Maybe try polishing it again with a furniture polishing cloth (a finer fabric)? It’s best to ask the floor installer, or we could call in the specialist for cases like this in the thread: @KlaRa please help!
Certain spots are already somewhat problematic. When I wipe just one small area, I can still see the spot when looking against the light. However, the effect fades over time, probably because we constantly walk over it, move chairs around, or have cleaned it, etc. Microfiber cloths or "magic erasers" are really bad for wood. Have you ever re-oiled the entire room?

I'm not quite sure whether I've roughened the floor too much or if it's now too polished...
The "effect" has been there for about six months now. I had hoped that it would become less noticeable over time, but unfortunately, it hasn’t. And you always see that spot first when entering the room.
Maybe @KlaRa can help, as @Tolentino already mentioned.
Thanks 🙂
