We are building a new house. For the upper floor and basement, as well as the staircase, we plan to install vinyl flooring. The vinyl will only be used in living areas and hallways, not in wet rooms.

We have a small self-contained apartment in the basement. We also want to install vinyl flooring there. However, it has an open kitchen, and I’m not sure whether to install the vinyl on an HDF (high-density fiberboard) underlayment in that area as well.

Has anyone had experience with Parador Basic 30? Its price-to-performance ratio convinced me, but I would like to hear your experiences. Would it also be a good idea to install this vinyl in the self-contained apartment (except for the apartment’s bathroom)?

A PE (polyethylene) foil is also planned.
Thanks very much in advance for any tips and help 🙂

Hello "Adriano 88."

As you may have noticed with the topic "Parador Basic 30," there is little enthusiasm. This might be because there are only minor differences today among "modular multilayer flooring systems," as they are precisely called. The PARADOR system you mentioned also falls under this category. You can only say whether you like it or not. It is a personal choice for a flooring system that is standardized according to DIN EN 14041, thus applying the same "performance rating" to all comparable flooring systems.

Your question "Would the idea of installing this vinyl flooring in the basement apartment (not in the basement apartment WC) also be a good one?" cannot be answered objectively. In principle, these types of flooring systems can be used in almost any interior space, even in a WC (as it is not a wet area).

Exception: basement rooms in direct contact with the ground, which were originally designated by the planner as "rooms with limited use" and constructed accordingly, lacking both rear sealing and thermal insulation.

Best of luck: KlaRa
