Hello,

six years ago, a flooring installer laid laminate and skirting boards in our house. For the appearance and the integrated cable channel, we chose Parador SL 18 skirting boards in white. The installer mitered the inside and outside corners and sealed the joints with acrylic.

At first, this was acceptable and looked fine, but after six years the acrylic joints have simply become dirty-looking, and unfortunately, the acrylic cannot be cleaned properly anymore. Additionally, the decor on the outside edges is starting to peel slightly, which happens, for example, if you accidentally kick it.

I thought I could repair the inside and outside corners with suitable cover trims. But I could hardly believe it, it seems that Parador only offers silver-colored cover trims for the SL 18 skirting boards. There are no cover trims available for any other decor finishes. What was Parador thinking?

To avoid having to replace all the skirting boards in our house, I am looking for a solution to improve the unsightly joints. In any case, neither acrylic nor silicone should be used. My first thought was to use decorative adhesive tape, but I was discouraged from this at the hardware store because they said I probably wouldn’t be able to apply it neatly.

Do you have any tips for me?

Best regards,
