Hello everyone,
We are in the final phase of building our house and are now planning to take on the painting work ourselves. The interior plaster was applied with a Q2 finish, which means we will sand and touch up the plaster before painting directly onto it. To approach this task as effectively as possible, I have a few detailed questions regarding the choice of materials:
If additional information is needed to answer these questions, please let me know.
Thank you very much and best regards!

The interior plaster was applied with a Q2 finish, which means we will sand and touch up the plaster before painting directly onto it. To approach this task as effectively as possible, I have a few detailed questions regarding the choice of materials:
- Which primer is recommended?
- The currently favored interior paint is "Caparol Indeko-Plus." Is this paint optimal for ceiling painting in large rooms (> 45 m² (484 ft²)), or would it be better to use the product "CapaSilan"? The key concern is “light reflection” (“streaking”).
- How much paint [l] is generally needed per m² (ft²)?
- Are there any tips regarding the rollers or brushes to be used?
If additional information is needed to answer these questions, please let me know.
Thank you very much and best regards!

Did you end up building after all? What were your rough costs excluding the land? (There was a thread where you mentioned you no longer wanted to build)Yes – we did build after all. We found a suitable project in the next construction phase . Our costs are around 310,000 € for 165 m² (1,775 sq ft).
I completely agree with Yvonne—definitely visit your local professional paint supplier! We received excellent advice, and the quality of the materials was very good. They even helped my wife by loading the paint cans into the car. Don’t skimp on the paint; the more expensive brands usually apply better and provide better coverage. For the primer, we used Pufas LF, which worked well and sprayed on easily (although priming is usually quite messy!).
We wallpapered the ceilings with painter’s fleece, and it looks great even under slanting light.
