House 110 sqm (1184 sq ft), bungalow. So, one level. Drywall ceiling, plastered walls; in the bathrooms lime-cement plaster, elsewhere gypsum plaster with lime content. Painting work includes filling, sanding, painter’s fleece, primer, and lightly tinted or white emulsion paint. In the bathrooms, fiberglass mesh over tiles on the walls, painted white with latex paint. Eaves painted with brackets. Quote 3800 gross. Is this ok?

To get 5 quotes, you first need to find 5 painters....

That shouldn’t be a problem. I would extend the radius for potential companies to over 50km (30 miles) to compare possibly higher regional prices.

It probably depends on where you live. I haven’t reached out to painters yet, but I just contacted 10 companies for a different trade and received 10 rejections due to fully booked schedules, unless you have a year to wait.

So, €3800 for painting the entire house, etc., is a reasonable price. However, it’s essential to clarify in advance which paint and wallpapers will be used, and of course, what services are included. For example, proper sanding beforehand is necessary regardless. In our case, the sanding was not done properly, and in areas where wallpaper won’t be replaced for 20 years (hallway, stairwell – paintable continuous wallpaper applied before stair installation), there are now bumps visible behind it in the stair area. Really a major problem and clear poor workmanship. Unfortunately, there’s nothing to be done now; the opportunity has passed.
