ᐅ Painting the facade: Costs and paint options – Is Renovo the same as Brillux?

saffamoHello builders, homeowners, and do-it-yourself enthusiasts,
I am deciding whether to have my nearly completed house painted with silicate paint by the construction company, as stated in the purchase contract, or to paint it myself and receive a credit of 2000 €.
The question is: what is worth it?
The surface area to be painted is about 206 m² (2215 sq ft).
I can get scaffolding free of charge!
At first, I looked at a silicate paint from Brillux.
Then a friend told me that the store brand Renovo (from Hagebaumarkt) is actually made by Brillux.
Does anyone have experience with this or can provide more information?
Could Renovo’s silicate paint be of good quality?
If so, it might be worthwhile to paint it myself, since the Brillux paint is quite expensive.
What would be a reasonable estimate of the cost to paint about 206 m² (2215 sq ft) with a good quality paint, including priming?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hello,
without knowing the exact prices of the paint, a 2000 Euro credit, which is about 10 Euro per square meter, doesn’t seem like much to me. Paint manufacturers specify consumption amounts (so many milliliters of paint per square meter). As a non-professional, add at least a third more on top of that, then you can roughly calculate how much paint and primer you will need to buy. And don’t forget that you will also need rollers and masking film for the windows. I wouldn’t be surprised if less than 500 Euros remain from that. I definitely wouldn’t consider doing the painting myself, especially with this lousy weather now—it’s not easy...
Best regards,
Andreas

It would only be worthwhile if the following turns out to be true. If it really is the case (and it is common nowadays that expensive paint from well-known manufacturers is repackaged as private label paint in DIY stores), that the private label Renovo from Brillux is repackaged. I think that would definitely make it worthwhile.
- Renovo Silicate Exterior White 10 liters (2.6 gallons), covers 60–76 m² (650–820 sq ft), 50 €
- Renovo Silicate Primer, 5 liters (1.3 gallons), covers 50 m² (540 sq ft), 20 €
For a wall area of about 206 m² (2,218 sq ft), I would need:
Approximately 4 x primer = 80 €
Approximately 4 x paint = 200 €
(If two coats are required, which might not be the case with repackaged Brillux, it would be 400 € for paint.)
I can get scaffolding for free.
And with some masking and other materials, I wouldn’t exceed 700 € in the worst case (rough estimate).
Plus, I still get 20% off at hagebaumarkt. :P
What do you think? Especially about Brillux / private label repackaging?

Is this the area the manufacturer says you can paint?
Then for the first coat, you can definitely mix up twice the amount of paint.
When masking, the material itself isn’t the problem, but rather the application.
Primer on the window is really not easy to remove.
For the savings, quite a lot of effort...
