Hello everyone,

I recently bought a single-family house that now needs a thorough renovation. Inside the house, there is a synthetic stone staircase that I would like to recolor. Covering it with hardwood flooring or carpet is not an option. I have been researching online for a long time and have also contacted several manufacturers of paints and coatings, but so far I have not received any helpful advice.
Since the staircase is used daily, the coating must have a certain level of abrasion resistance. It is a synthetic stone staircase, partly porous.
Of course, I could just start painting and test how long different paints last, but I don’t want to take that risk.
I hope someone here has already tried something like this. I have considered exterior wall paint, but those usually contain fungicides, which wouldn’t be ideal for indoor use. Alternatively, I have also thought about paints that are used for tiles.
I would be very happy to receive any ideas!

Unfortunately, I can’t offer many ideas (I would probably choose a different approach than painting them), but I would advise against tile paint. In our kitchen, we painted the wall tiles using a system from Molto. It looks very nice but is not abrasion-resistant at all. You have to be very careful with the surface to prevent the paint from coming off.

There may be other manufacturers or tile paints that work better. Traditional "tile lacquer" probably not.
