can you really tell the difference if a professional did the work or a non-expert like me? I'm wondering if I could maybe save the 1000€ and spend that money elsewhere, because I think... anyone can paint. I've done it a few times myself and thought it looked pretty good, but I've never actually seen the direct difference.

zimmerone20 Oct 2008 22:57Well, of course there are significant price differences both in paint types and among experienced professionals 🙂 I also painted my apartment myself back then. I would say that you generally notice fewer differences as long as you stick to one brushing direction. It naturally took me quite a bit longer, and it becomes tricky if you want a different color on each wall. The transitions might then not be quite as precise.

If it were all that easy, I wonder why it takes three years of training to become a painter and decorator when any amateur could do it just as well. Either you are a natural talent—or you might be overestimating yourself?! 😕
