Hello,
is it possible to paint an interior Ytong wall directly, or is it necessary to plaster it first?
Since I quite like the masonry look, I’m wondering if the wall can be painted directly or if there are technical reasons against it.
If it is possible, are there any experience-based estimates on how much paint is needed per square meter?

For an exterior wall, I wouldn’t do that because of airtightness concerns.
For an interior wall, I would use silicate paint. Although I’ve applied it on calcium silicate brick rather than aerated concrete, it should work on aerated concrete as well. Silicate paint has the advantage that it doesn’t form a separate layer but bonds with the substrate (silicification), which should prevent or at least reduce the sanding off of the aerated concrete block.
Just my 2 cents
