Hello, I’m taking some time to organize my apartment. I have a problem: the hallway walls were painted light pink by the previous tenant. However, I’m not happy with the door frames. The light pink color has seeped into the door frames. I don’t want to hire a painter for this. I would like to paint the door frames myself. Attached are pictures of my hallway so you can see the frames. What can I do? Logic tells me to buy white paint and paint along the door frames. But which type of paint is suitable for this? And how can I achieve straight lines along the door frames with the white paint? Is the white paint strong enough to cover the light pink?

Yes, that was a botched job. It’s unacceptable – after all, you want to take pride in something you do yourself.

I also think the dispersion paint might come off with warm water. I would try scrubbing thoroughly with warm water and a cloth, just to see if you’re lucky.
When I worked on my door frames, I didn’t sand them beforehand. I always use a cleaner to prepare the surface and would then apply a primer for door frames.

After that, apply a matte finish varnish.
Personally, I would use a flat brush to pull straight down along the edge. If you have a steady hand, that works well. If not, tape off the area with painter’s tape and remove it while the paint is still wet. You can achieve a uniform finish with a foam roller. First, use a round brush on the inner edges, then apply paint to the main surfaces with the foam roller. Always work in the direction of the grain, moving up and down, not sideways.

I think once the paint smudges are wiped off, the frames will be white enough again.

Here are a few pictures. I think I still have quite a lot to do. I slightly moistened the paint with a brush using lukewarm water. Then I waited for half an hour. I started rubbing with a cloth. No luck. I used some multi-purpose oil, sprayed it on, and used a very small pointed wedge to gently scrape off some of the paint. Unfortunately, the metal rust is very visible. Is it possible to make it invisible afterwards by painting or something similar?

I have found a simple way to remove the pink stains. My mother gave me this advice. I will share it here on Friday.

Oh wow. That was a bit harsh o.O
You actually chipped off the paint completely instead of trying to rub it off... It only becomes really invisible with a lot of effort, if at all. Unfortunately, I don’t have many tips besides sanding – but that tends to cause more chipping nearby as well...

I’m curious about your mother’s trick! Good luck!
