We are planning a precast concrete garage, which will most likely be delivered with the standard smooth formwork concrete surface. We probably won’t order an additional white exterior plaster. Instead, we were considering painting the concrete ourselves in white, light gray, or gray. Is this feasible on bare concrete? And if so, does it look acceptable afterwards? So far, I haven’t been able to find photos through image searches showing how the surface looks afterward.

Above all, the color of the garage must also match the house!

Yes, exactly, that is why I mentioned several colors. From what I have seen, there are exterior paints suitable for concrete surfaces, which would probably work. I am mainly interested in actual photos because it is hard for me to imagine how smooth or rough a formwork-smooth concrete surface is, whether it has those characteristic small holes, etc.

What kind of low-cost provider charges extra for a finish on a precast concrete garage – are you also supposed to pick it up yourself? ... that sounds like a joke to me.

VW sells quite well in Germany, even though the cup holder costs an extra 20 euros, while it is already included with others. I actually find it less important whether the garage costs 38,000 euros and the plaster 2,000 euros, or if another provider offers the garage complete for 40,000 euros. On the contrary, if it is optional, at least you have an additional choice.

But not even VW offers the boxes without paint.
