Hello forum,

I understand that the built-in microwave oven is functional and that using the oven and microwave combination can save time, but I’m curious whether this integrated version really performs as well as a separate microwave in everyday use (setting aside space advantages, as we have enough room). I’m not talking about large cooking tasks, but rather things like quickly warming a cup of milk or reheating lunch in the evening. Do you need to remove the trays first, or does it work like a standalone microwave (open, place item inside, start, done)? Is it easy to find the small cup of milk again afterward in the relatively large oven? And so on.

I’d be interested to hear about your daily experiences and whether you would choose a combination unit again.

Best regards

As a tip: I would definitely avoid a pure steam oven. The real added value comes from combining baking and steam, so make sure to get an oven with full-steam functionality!

By the way, we also chose a combination of microwave + oven and oven + steam. This provides maximum flexibility with optimal appearance. Of course, it is an expensive solution, so you have to decide for yourself whether it’s worth it and if you will actually use it.

Actually, I only need one microwave plus a large oven and one smaller steam oven. For example, vegetables can cook at the same time as fish is baking. I don’t understand why you need two ovens. And do you have two appliances with large cooking cavities?

We have a microwave + oven (compact) and a steam oven + oven (large), installed one above the other. For me, this is a very good solution. Two ovens come in handy, for example, for roasting and making a gratin at the same time, warming up dishes, or preparing a baked dessert. I rarely use the steam oven on its own, though. Steamed vegetables are an acquired taste.

The microwave does not have a rotating plate, but the food still heats evenly. I only use the combination of baking with microwave assistance for frozen pizza, which happens very rarely.

I don’t think anyone here wants to do that.

Exactly.

To get back on topic: Does anyone use the microwave together with, for example, bread baking? I get the impression that you mostly use either one or the other, but not both.

Microwave for bread baking? A steam oven would be much more suitable for that.

Microwave support is more useful, for example, with chicken wings or similar. A microwave integrated into the oven is often just there to save space by avoiding the need for an additional appliance.

Of course not just that. I mean in combination with the oven.
