Hello everyone,

a brief introduction: after six months of renovating an old building, I am now finally installing my IKEA kitchen with third-party appliances. The biggest challenge so far has been mounting the wall cabinets onto the old masonry.

The oven in the kitchen will be installed in the Metod tall cabinet; I have chosen a NEFF oven. My question is: should the oven be placed directly on the included rails, or is there supposed to be a shelf resting on the rails as well?

Also, the tall cabinet is basically freestanding. On the left is the dishwasher, and on the right is a freestanding refrigerator that is 202cm (79.5 inches) tall. Is it acceptable for the tall cabinet to stand freely, or should it definitely be secured to the wall? There is a slight unevenness in the wall right at this spot... but maybe the oven is heavy enough to stabilize it.

I look forward to your opinions and information.

Hello, a base must still be included, which is screwed to the rails.
During installation, you can refer to an assembly manual for an IKEA oven.

You should also secure the cabinet to the wall for better lateral stability.

That's correct.
The oven sits on the floor "between" the rails.
So, first fix the rails to the floor, then secure the cabinet, and place the oven on top.

Whether it's a tall cabinet alone or multiple units—NEVER without wall anchoring!!
And if you can't secure it continuously because of the offset, one screw—one more—is better than none.
Where possible, I would simply use two screws side by side.
As far apart as the offset allows.
