I removed the old outdoor light fixture (without an internal motion sensor). About two meters (6.5 feet) away, there is an external motion sensor that seems to be connected to the old light (it is still attached). Now, the new outdoor light fixture (with an integrated motion sensor) has been installed. From the wall, there are two black, two blue, and two green wires. These were connected—just like with the old light—by grouping the same colors together in a terminal block, and only one black and one blue wire were connected to the light fixture (green not connected, taped off).

However, the light does not turn on. What could be the possible causes? Do I need to remove the old motion sensor? Or somehow deactivate it?

The lamp is not receiving power. 😀

And then what? If you are already asking these kinds of questions here, it’s better to contact someone knowledgeable to do this for you, otherwise someone might get hurt.

If you connected it the same way as the previous one, it is basically still connected to the old motion sensor. So now it is connected to two (old plus new).
You need to connect the new lamp directly to the permanent live wire, as it is internally linked to the motion sensor.
This may require removing the old one and installing a jumper there. However, no one can really tell you this from a distance without pictures.

You need to connect the new lamp directly to the constant live wire, as it is internally linked to the motion sensor.
For that, it may be necessary to remove the old sensor and install a jumper wire there. However, no one can really tell you that remotely without photos.

Thank you for the response. The lamp works, but it is indeed connected to the old, inconveniently located motion sensor. How do I install a jumper wire there (probably involving 6 cables)? I’ve connected many lamps before, but such a special case is new to me. Finding an electrician for this is difficult at the moment, with very long waiting times, and I need quick solutions due to tripping hazards.

In theory, it has two cables: power supply and connection to the lights. However, this can vary depending on the installation. Without photos, we can’t proceed.
A Wago connector should be sufficient. The motion sensor has a switch contact that needs to be disconnected, and the wires must be bridged.

Only connect the two cables together using a Wago connector. However, make sure to pay attention to the color coding.
