Hello everyone,

my installer asked me whether the outdoor unit of the air-to-water heat pump should be mounted on the house (exterior wall) or placed on a small concrete slab on the ground next to the house.

Is there a recommended method for this? I couldn’t find anything specific through Google.

Thanks in advance

It doesn’t matter how you do it.

Yes, it’s exactly the same. Choose whichever is more affordable.

I know a house where the outdoor unit is mounted on a bracket attached to the house. It produces a lot of water runoff during operation.

Just my unqualified opinion, and we are not planning to get an air-to-water heat pump. I wouldn’t want that and would place the outdoor unit on a concrete slab/paving just beside the house. With a gravel strip around it. Otherwise, I would be concerned that the facade might become unattractive over time.

But as I said, this is just a personal observation and opinion.

Best regards! mini_g!

A condensate drain is, of course, an essential part; otherwise, the installation would not be considered professionally done.

I didn’t want them on the house, as I was concerned about the transmission of structure-borne noise.
