Hello, after reading through the forum in detail for several months and now having our floor plan finalized, I would like to ask for your opinions on it. We are open to suggestions for improvements. Some doors will be slightly shifted to better position the cabinets. Similarly, the door from the garage will be moved to the mudroom area. The glass element above the staircase in the master bedroom will also be removed, as it would make it difficult to sleep with the hallway light turning on repeatedly. The fireplace will also be relocated around the corner; it is only intended for a wood stove used for cooking. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hello Landler,
I really like your floor plan very much. When there is enough space, it’s also fun to design generously—as long as it’s financially feasible, of course. :-)
One thing I noticed is that the master bathroom includes a simple standard shower. Personally, I shower 99% of the year, so I designed a nice large shower for myself.
I have one more suggestion regarding the guest toilet on the ground floor. Have you considered adding a standing urinal for your male guests?
How many square meters (square feet) will the total living area be?
Regards, Earl

Hello Earl Grey,
Financially, everything is fine. We already have 3-4 quotes for all trades, and if you take the average, it comes to around €300,000 (about $320,000). Now, many might say that it's not feasible for that amount, but we are doing a lot ourselves. For example, all the earthworks and masonry will be done by us.
Our plot is 3000 sqm (about 0.74 acres), the ground floor is 107 sqm (1150 sq ft) plus a 63 sqm (678 sq ft) garage and workshop, and the upper floor is 145 sqm (1560 sq ft).
We also considered having a urinal in the guest bathroom but decided against it.
The shower in the master bathroom will be larger; the architect just sketched it small, but it will be a steam shower for two people.

Wow, great plot of land. Congratulations... which state are you building in?
If you hadn’t mentioned the amount of self-work involved, I would have seriously doubted that price. I don’t have much expertise myself, but based on what I’ve read in this forum so far, something would have seemed off.
Wishing you lots of fun with the construction and your own work, it can really be enjoyable (if you truly enjoy it and can do various tasks yourself).
Regards, Earl
