ᐅ Original vs. Replica: Central Ventilation Unit

Which filters do you buy for central residential ventilation systems (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery)? Original ones from the manufacturer or third-party replacements?
I am currently dealing with a Wolf CWL-300 Excellent, but the model shouldn’t matter, as I think this is a general question.
What do you think?

I have a CWL-2-325. There are two plastic frames, each loosely holding a mesh mat. I ordered G3 filter mats of the right thickness and cut them to size. The material is completely identical in quality. The original Wolf filters cost three to four times as much.
