Hello everyone,
After being awarded a plot of land where we can imagine realizing our dream home, we are naturally thinking about its orientation and the possibilities for building on it.
The main direction faces east, which is not ideal, and the constant question arises about what will happen with the midday and evening sun.
First of all: with this orientation, you are compensated by a location on the edge of the town and an unobstructed eastern view of nature (slightly sloping terrain) as well as a view of the Swiss Alps to the south.
Still, of course, you want to make the most of the sun in the afternoon and evening.

Since the plan of the neighboring plot to the south is available, I took the time to get familiar with Google Sketchup.

Our plot is the middle one of the three, measuring 22.5 m x 38.5 m (a contour line corresponds to 0.5 m (1.6 ft), so it is only a slight slope, which, as you can see from other buildings along the street, can be easily leveled.
Since the plot is relatively narrow at 22.5 m (74 ft) and I don’t want my south-facing terrace to be right next to the neighbor, I’m now considering how to position my buildings to move as far north as possible.
Garages and carports must fit within the 15 m (49 ft) wide building zone. A double garage would push me too far to the south...

The house shown on our property was just a rough draft. We are still completely open and undecided regarding the house and roof design :-)
The north-south orientation is correctly set in the images.
I will also obtain the plans for the two additional neighboring houses to the west and model them accordingly.
