Fragenasker13 Apr 2021 12:15Hi,
we want to order a cistern (about 5000 liters (1320 gallons)) online, have it delivered to us, and then have it installed. It should be a concrete cistern. Since many of you have probably already considered this and gained some experience, I wanted to ask if you could share any recommendations. Unfortunately, I could not find any reviews of manufacturers. I want to avoid ordering from the first cistern manufacturer that appears on Google and then receiving poor quality.

Hello, you won’t be able to install a concrete cistern with a 5m³ (1320 gallons) capacity by yourself. Connecting it afterward might be possible. It weighs around 4 to 5 tons (4 to 5 metric tons)!
We ordered our two units from a building material supplier, including a domestic water system (Mall Tano L 5.8m³ (1530 gallons) with rainwater storage). The price was actually slightly lower than the listed price online. The excavation for the foundation pit had to be provided by the contractor. The price for the cistern included delivery and lowering it into the excavation (text: including unloading / placing into the excavation from the delivery vehicle). The connection work was then handled by the construction company that also built the foundation slab, as they had installed the drainage pipes as well.
Everything went smoothly with the delivery and lowering. The quality also looks good so far. It will only be fully put into operation around August when we move in. So we don’t have any further experience yet.

I admit that I have thought through every little detail... but never about the manufacturer of the concrete cistern. Maybe that's because we contracted each trade separately, and our structural builder isn’t the type to add extra charges. The contract just specified delivering and installing a 5m³ (175 cubic feet) concrete cistern.
Manufacturer? Type? No idea. It’s going to be buried underground and is probably one of the components in the build with the longest lifespan... whether it comes from the concrete plant "ConcreteforLife" or the concrete plant "NiederschlotzbacherBetonundZementwerkManufaktur"... I’m not sure if that’s really the most important question for the homeowner, if you know what I mean!? 😉

Fragenasker13 Apr 2021 14:24I understand, thanks for the responses. We are basically finished with the house construction and now want to install the cistern afterwards. It is not unlikely that someone is either completely dissatisfied or very satisfied after using it for several years. That was what I had hoped for.
Have it done before the path is paved, and the construction access road could also help.
And the excavation volume will be twice as much.
Internet is unreliable, and DHL doesn’t deliver them.
So, briefly: hire a company and don’t forget the connection pipes.
In our case, the civil engineer/paver handled it.
