ᐅ Optimal finished floor height relative to the street level

Hi,

We received our building permit / planning permission two weeks ago. It includes a recommendation to raise the house by an additional 25 cm (10 inches), but this is only a suggestion. However, it is a bit unsettling. Currently, the plan is for the finished floor level to be 15 cm (6 inches) higher than the street level. I actually thought this would be enough. The street is about 10 m (33 feet) away and slopes down towards the opposite side of the street.

What do you think about this?

Yes, or rather, I actually think so too.
Then I also have no problem matching the height to the neighbor’s.
So you also think that nothing should actually go wrong there,
except that the whole village floods.

Even if your site floods completely, the house still has two steps.

Well, if the site floods at street level, only one step remains.

But on the sides—oh, at the back, the property will slope back down to its original elevation.
The water could flow there, and there are still 500 square meters that lie 30cm (12 inches) lower.

I had already pinned a like on #48 and #51.

I stick to my position to keep the planned height and, if necessary, make adjustments later; in my opinion, houses on mounds belong to Friesland. Alternatively, I find your compromise of increasing it by 10 cm (4 inches) agreeable, but an increase of 25 cm (10 inches) seems, in my view, like "too much caution."

I think I'll just leave it as it is and be done.
