Hello everyone, we are just starting to build and are now planning the kitchen and floor tiles. We are having a hard time imagining if everything will match well, so it would be great to hear some opinions. We will have an open living/kitchen area and are considering dark floor tiles with a metallic look (black/silver) and a kitchen with a wood effect in gray oak or silver oak, so also relatively dark. The countertop will be gray, with silver trims, and the walls will be light. There is plenty of natural light, and the kitchen/living area is quite spacious. Do you think it might look too dark together? Thank you very much for your opinions. Best regards
Another tip for setting up our new build:
Sweet Home 3D. It’s not too difficult to use even for beginners, and you can sometimes import the original furniture models. Most importantly, you can use the exact textures of your floors and walls if you find them online.
I saved photos of our floors from the manufacturer’s website, created a simple tile pattern in Paint using copy and paste, and then imported that as a texture into the program. Of course, these aren’t our actual kitchen cabinets, but it helps to see how the colors work together.
I use this to experiment with wall paint colors.

To me, it seems like a tile meant for a museum restroom, a café, or an accent wall (someone recently tiled along their staircase with it). The pattern is busy and very “designer.” This calls for a calm and skillfully designed interior to balance it. I wouldn’t pair it with silver oak. White or light wood with copper handles or similar, or an elegant green with a patina effect, would work better. For me, it’s more a tile for large, public spaces rather than an ordinary house.

dark floor tiles with a metal effect (black / silver) Nice! But it actually is quite dark.

oak wood-look in grey or silver oak I first had to picture the wood color – it’s not dark. On a grayscale, it’s more like medium grey.

worktop in grey, silver trim strips That would be too grey for me...

With a kitchen consultant who’s too lazy to make a few clicks in their software to create a more realistic image of your future living situation, I’d say: Move on to the next kitchen consultant. Often it’s the software, low resolution, or a weak graphics card. Or the position of the wall creates “shadows.”
I recommend requesting samples of the surfaces. You surely already have the tile at home, right?
Everyone’s taste is different. If you like it that way, go for it.
For me personally, the tile is too black, even though it has some silver. But I’m not a fan of high-contrast black and white – I prefer something more subtle or anthracite.
Also, I find there are too many different surfaces here: wood (kitchen), then a plain worktop, silver trim, tile with silver... I would rather (just thinking out loud) swap the calm grey of the worktop with the floor look.
