beckl198828 Dec 2021 22:51I completely renovated and skim-coated a room. Afterwards, I decided I want to install tiles and apply a lime-cement plaster on the upper part of the wall. Because of the skim-coating, the wall surface is now very smooth. Will the plaster and tiles adhere properly, or do I need to sand it down or just roughen the surface? Thanks, regards
Tile adhesive also bonds well to a plastered wall. However, you should at least apply a primer to the substrate. Get advice where you buy your tiles. But using a cement-lime mortar on a gypsum substrate is not recommended. It will probably become too hard. There are also thin-layer plasters that can be applied to gypsum. However, I would suggest staying with the same material or removing the gypsum.
