I have purchased a house built in 1956 located in the area of the former GDR. When removing the floorboards on the first floor, I found a white, styrofoam-like material between the rafters, with a slightly finer texture. When touched, it crumbles into dust.
My question is: what kind of material is this, and is it hazardous to health?
Best regards,
Stephan
