Hello everyone,

We have a few questions regarding oiling parquet flooring.

A few days ago, we had oak mosaic parquet installed in our apartment. After installation, the floor was oiled twice with a parquet oil from Forbo (879).

The installation company told us that we should re-oil the floor after about 6 months or, at the latest, after one year.
  • Is it sufficient to apply just one coat during this re-oiling, or should two coats be applied again?
  • What kind of cleaning should be done before oiling?
  • Should we use the exact same oil as after installation, or does it not matter if we use a product from a different manufacturer?
We have already downloaded some information from Forbo’s website, but it is not entirely clear to us. Among other things, it mentions that a refresh can be done with an oil-wax emulsion.

If we chose the pure oil option for the first application, why would a refresh suddenly require an oil-wax product? Wouldn’t that change the appearance? And would we have to move all the furniture out again? Moving cabinets, couches, etc. would be really inconvenient!

Thank you for your help.
