Hello everyone,
At the moment, it’s not easy to find a reliable craftsman, but I finally received a quote for two bathroom vanity cabinets. However, since I don’t have any comparable offers, I can’t really assess whether the price is reasonable. I’m looking for two base cabinets made from reclaimed wood; the quote I received is for cabinets made from approximately 200-year-old farmhouse floorboards.
ME Additional cost for item 1: ==================
Bathroom vanity cabinet, 1000mm (39 inches) wide (basement bathroom), surface made of knotty oak, solid wood, brushed and sealed with a natural wood-effect lacquer.
The total price for two vanity base cabinets comes to €3678.00 (reclaimed wood!!) plus installation and 16% VAT (effective from July 1).
Installation costs an additional €322 per vanity!
Personally, I find the price, to put it mildly, quite steep! But I can’t tell if it’s realistic and whether it’s unnecessary to get more quotes or if it is actually a bit overpriced.
As I said, the problem is simply getting any quotes at all – this was the first out of four attempts over the past three months!
Thank you very much for your feedback.
Best regards and have a great weekend

Alessandro22 Jun 2020 09:48I know this isn’t exactly on topic here, as the requirements are quite specific and it will certainly look great, but:
I was also searching for a 2m (6.5 ft) bathroom vanity cabinet that matches the tiles, is durable, and easy to maintain.
Since there was nothing suitable of that length available on the market, I simply went to our kitchen cabinet maker, who made the vanity cabinet for me at a really great price compared to the furniture from specialty bathroom stores.
It was custom-designed with a huge selection of finishes, colors, and patterns.
Maybe this will help someone else who is also looking for an individual solution.
By now, several well-known kitchen manufacturers have also discovered this niche market and offer bathroom furniture as well.

hampshire22 Jun 2020 15:01During one of our outings, we found a narrow table from the 19th century in an antique shop. I immediately knew what we would use it for. The size was perfect, so I placed a stone basin on top and cut a hole for the drain. If you look around a bit, you come across beautiful, unique solutions – as @Alessandro also describes.
