Hello everyone,

I received the quote from my preferred electrician, and I find it quite expensive. Here is an excerpt:

1 single-pole switch for an outdoor light point: €52.00
1 standard socket outlet supply and installation: €48.00
1 two-way switch for a light point: €52.00
1 Merten room thermostat supply and installation: €89.00
1 meter cabinet including all circuit breakers supply and installation: €1,450.00
1 empty conduit box with cables for telephone or antenna: €45.00
1 satellite system Astrosat Hotbird and Astra, 9 inputs, 8 outputs: €550.00
1 video intercom system including 2 video stations: €1,044.00
Roller shutter control for 23 windows: €1,485.00
6 step lights supply and installation: €534.00

All prices are net (plus VAT), including installation, chasing, etc. The switch range is apparently standard white from Merten. The total amount is €11,169.00 net, which equals €13,291.11 gross. This seems quite high to me, especially since not all the sockets I need are even included. However, he provides the temporary construction power box free of charge.
The house measures 12 x 12 meters (39 x 39 feet) with no basement.

What do you think? Are these prices reasonable, or should I push him harder?

Best regards,
Daniel

What exactly don’t you like about it? I actually find some of the prices quite low. But I only know the additional costs that our home construction company charges.

So, according to the service specification, we will pay 39.50 (incl.) for a simple outlet (also standard Merten). Your preferred electrician charges almost 25% more?!!!

Since we are not there yet (maybe in 2-3 months), I cannot say anything about the other costs. But wow, I find that quite steep. I usually calculate with less, but I can at least roughly include your figures for the two-way switch and other items. Thanks.

Your electrician’s calculations seem quite unusual. My quotes for a Schuko socket – fully installed GIRA 55 – range from 19,-- to 39,-- euros, a single-pole switch with a ceiling light fully installed from 26,-- to 41,-- euros, and a two-way switch from 45,-- to 53,-- euros. I consider the other prices reasonable. For telephone/antenna connections, even 45,-- euros is a good price (my quotes range from 47,-- to 95,-- euros).

For the electrical distribution board, the price ultimately depends on how many RCDs (residual current devices) you have and whether an additional meter is needed, for example, for a heat pump. Only then can the price be estimated. Regarding the roller shutter control for 23 windows, it depends on how many individual controls there are and whether a central control has been installed.

Hello,

Your electrician calculated that quite strangely...
He didn’t, and besides, you can’t compare your prices with his. You are from NRW, the person asking is from Saarland – there are usually huge differences between these regions!

.....................is it really that much more expensive in Saarland? I always thought that many things were cheaper there – including construction costs.
