Hello everyone,

I have received a quote for the heating system.
The house is about 140m² (1507 sq ft) plus a basement. In the basement, all rooms except the technical room (about 20m² / 215 sq ft) are heated with underfloor heating.

Vitocal 200-S AWB 201.C10 7.7 kW
300-liter (79-gallon) domestic hot water tank

The price is approximately 28,400€.

The price includes underfloor heating, air-to-water heat pump, storage tank, and full installation.
Is this price reasonable?

The quote is from the general contractor.

If there is an €18,000 difference, I would definitely hire a dancing chicken... Of course, assuming both provide me with a similar result.

I didn’t realize that similar discounts and deals exist in heating system installation/purchase as they do when buying a kitchen. 🙂 Personally, I wouldn’t be very keen to get heavily involved in negotiating here.

Seriously – you can calculate what the whole thing should cost (prices estimated on the higher side):
Heating system might cost around 12,000 euros
Storage tank maybe another 2,000 euros
Underfloor heating (with or without screed insulation?) possibly 6,000–8,000 euros
... so the total will probably be closer to a maximum of 22,000 euros
But 10,000 euros is nonsense... in that case, you’re basically paying for the heating system later on anyway – you could ask the general contractor just for fun whether they would only install the heating system ;-)

For the quoted price, we received 300 m² (3,229 sq ft) of underfloor heating including a ground source heat pump, two boreholes each 80 m (262 ft) deep, and a large hot water storage tank with an additional plate heat exchanger. So, a complete package of materials and installation...

Is the 140 sqm (1507 sq ft) including the basement, or is that additional?
I assume the prices are gross prices.

I also think that is very expensive.
We pay a similar amount for a brine-to-water heat pump including drilling.

And does it work well for hot water? If there is no storage tank. Or did I misunderstand?

Kind regards

The prices from the home construction companies are shown as sponsored, but they are included in the total house price, making them difficult to compare with the open market.
