Old building from 1955, electrical installation needs to be completely renewed.
Hallway (1.5m x 4.5m) (5 feet x 15 feet) with a total of 8 doors (entrance, toilet, bathroom, kitchen, living room, master bedroom, and 2 children's rooms).
So far, 2 switches for the hallway light (distance from door threshold to light switch max. 1.8m) (6 feet).
The electrician claims that there must be a switch for the hallway light next to every door.
This is supposedly required by the VDE.

Is this correct, and which VDE regulation states this? Could someone please clarify!

That’s nonsense. The regulation applies to apartment doors in multi-family buildings (and there it also refers to push buttons; an electrical master should know the difference). Nowadays, I wouldn’t use any switches there at all, but instead have the PLC receive signals via push buttons.

Push buttons for an Eltacko, that is, a latching relay, should also work.
I would actually install a push button next to every door; it’s simply more convenient than having to walk in the dark.

We don’t have a light switch for the hallway at the utility room/guest toilet, and that’s quite annoying. One from Hue will be installed there soon.

First of all, thank you!

"... the regulation applies to apartment buildings for ..."

Could you please also provide me with the number of this VDE?

Thanks again!
