Dear experts,

According to the building specifications, our new apartment meets the minimum requirements of DIN 18015-2.

The apartment is hopefully going to be handed over soon, and we suspect that the DIN standard may not have been fully complied with. Perhaps we are also misunderstanding the standard. Therefore, our question is:

For example, in the living room >20 sqm (215 sq ft), the standard states: general sockets 5, sockets for telephone/data 1, sockets for radio/TV/data 6.

I understand this to mean that the living room should have at least 12 sockets in total?

Thank you very much in advance and best regards!

I don’t have the standard on hand, but if you look up the standard, you will find a PDF from Hager with a table. For living rooms larger than 20 m² (215 sq ft), I also come to 12 electrical outlets.

Is the original poster referring to standard power outlets (for ironing and similar uses) or to various types of sockets including data, telephone, cable, etc...?

Building expert, your information is incorrect. I have the DIN standard.

General power outlets: 5
Lighting connections: 3
Telephone/data connection (ICT): 1
Power outlets for telephone/data: 1
Radio/TV/data connection (RTD): 2
Power outlets for radio/TV/data: 6

In summary: 12 power outlets fit.

PS: I just realized that we also don’t have 12 (okay, 11, since just under 20) power outlets installed. New building from 2013 (but I only rent there). I think there are only about 5 or 6 in total.

The "RAL-RG 678" is freely accessible (use any internet search engine of your choice) and also shows the minimum equipment requirements according to DIN 18015-2.
