My boyfriend and I are moving in together soon, and we still need a new kitchen. Can anyone tell me if IKEA kitchens are any good or recommend a specific model? We like this red lacquer finish, but I guess it’s probably not very easy to maintain, right? It should also not be too expensive since we are both students!
Hello emma21!
First of all, congratulations on your first shared apartment! 🙂
Ikea kitchens are really great. We also have one from Ikea, after I convinced my partner. By now, he likes it too. One reason is probably the large refrigerator.
Red lacquer is, of course, very susceptible to dents and small chips... You might want to get some professional advice.
Maybe you can even negotiate a student discount!

I put together the Faktum kitchen; you choose what you want from it. Of course, it also depends on how much space you have and how much you want to spend.
So far, I’m still happy with it!
Kind regards,
tom

I don’t have an Ikea kitchen myself, but a good friend of mine does. It’s really nice— I mean the kitchen, not to say anything wrong about my friend either. But before I start rambling and go off-topic, back to the point. She is very happy with it overall, but she uses the electrical appliances from Ikea’s own brand, and her cooktop broke shortly after the warranty expired. Of course, it could just have been bad luck.
Enjoy cooking 🙂
