I just didn’t want to put holes in the side panels in case I wanted to move the inserts later. Recently, I went back to IKEA and got two more inserts. I just unpacked them and am extremely disappointed.
The inserts are no longer made of individual boards but of a single thin panel that you have to fold. Also, now you can’t avoid screwing the whole thing to the cabinet unit because otherwise, you can’t attach the door. I really find this annoying. I’m probably going to throw them away. Who needs something like this? The old ones were not only more stable but also more flexible to handle.
Maybe someone has an idea how I can attach the door, make this poorly designed thing more stable, and avoid having to connect it to the cabinet... 🙁

The worst part is when you actually install these things: they don’t align flush with the edges of the compartment, so there is always a gap. Additionally, they are often crooked.
IKEA has definitely cut corners in the wrong place here.
