Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forum and would like to say hello as well as share my problem.
We are currently planning the construction of a new town villa measuring 10x10 meters (33x33 feet). A basement will be built, and that’s where the problem arises.
According to the plan from the civil engineering office, the average groundwater level is at 2 meters (6.5 feet). Of course, the basement will be waterproofed, but what about the pumped-out water? Has anyone had experience with how much it might cost to dispose of this water through the public drainage system? What about drilling a soakaway pit (or infiltration pit) on the property to redirect the water there? Is that practical or even allowed?
I look forward to interesting and exciting replies.
Best regards from Bavaria
Sonja 🙂 🙄

With a very high groundwater level, you will probably need to discharge the water directly into the public drainage system. Otherwise, try calling the local authority – they should know.

If you drain it onto your property, it will end up back where you pumped it from... I don’t know the cost of discharging it, but it probably shouldn’t be too expensive. I would try to position the basement as high as possible. The basement might be waterproof now, but will it still be in 30 years? With a groundwater level of 2 meters (6.5 feet) relative to your ground level, you could practically place the floor slab directly into the water, right?
