JooMHello,
in our 13-year-old house, the oil central heating system is gradually breaking down. We already had problems last winter. The heating kept failing, and the technician only performed temporary repairs while warning us that it wouldn’t last much longer. We’ve been considering switching to a different heating technology for some time now. Can anyone recommend something or give me some advice?

Wow, replacing the oil heating system after just 13 years. Did the heating technician who did repairs install this system? If so, you might want to consider looking for a different specialist.
The alternatives are replacing the oil burner or switching to a pellet stove or wood gasification boiler, etc. A wood gasification system is especially interesting if you have access to a low-cost wood supply. Currently, pellets are about 20% cheaper than oil for the same energy output.
However, switching to wood heating systems also involves high initial investment costs. 🙁
The mentioned wood heating systems are carbon-neutral and use renewable fuels. 😉
Are you planning or considering energy efficiency upgrades (such as insulation of the building envelope or window replacement) now or in the coming years?
